A new Board member was sworn in, John D. Lyon Jr. from Raleigh.  Apparently, his lineage is in RE appraising – his father was also a Cert Res. Appraiser.  Apparently, John D. Jr. is quite the UNC Tarheel fanatic.  He also loves to shoot photos of the team, live.  At the games, he’s usually seen carrying a camera with about a 2’ telephoto lens on it.  He was sworn in today by the Honorable Judge Michael Morgan, a Superior Court Judge of Wake county.  Judge Morgan graduated from Duke.  Don Rodgers, Deputy Dir. of the NCAB, took a photo of Judge Michael Morgan and John D. Lyon, side by side.  Don Rodgers graduated from NC State!!  It was truly a Kum-By-Ya moment!!

Three hearings were scheduled, Seth Manson was postponed, so Roy Lee Wilson and Bretney Martin Gibson proceeded.  I heard the Roy Lee Wilson hearing.  This hearing pertained to character; Mr. Wilson was an appraiser from 1991 – 2003.  He allowed his license to expire due to a 30 month+/- incarceration.  He was denied application for licensure.

The main item was this: since December, 14 trainee applicants have applied.  The staff will be monitoring new apps closely.  If the trend for appraisal licenses continues downward, drastically, increased funding for the NCAB may be on the legislature’s agenda once again.

That’s all folks!!!
